The major action of chloroquine is to block the formation of hemozoin (Hz) from the heme produced by the digestion of hemoglobin.
The free heme cause lyses of the membranes resulting in the death of parasite.
Resistance of chloroquine is due to reduced accumulation of chloroquine in the food vacuole.

Precautions & How to Use
It should be taken with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset.
Eye examination prior to and at 3-6 monthly intervals during use is required if patients are receiving Chloroquine at continuous high doses for longer duration
When patient start taking the medication sometime it cause blurring of vision. if it affects concentration please do not drive.
It may cause low blood sugar level. If patient have diabetes the monitoring of blood sugar level is needed.
If patient take medication longer time it needed to monitor amount of different blood cell by some testes.
